Message from the Principal

23 March, 2020

Pakiri School is now closed to all students from today with the exception of essential workers who are able to access school for their children until Wednesday 25th March, 2020.  Therefore, I would appreciate anyone who is an essential worker and requires their child to be at school tomorrow and Wednesday to please make contact with me. The bus will not be available this Tuesday or Wednesday.  I will be the only teaching staff on the school site for Tuesday and Wednesday.   This situation is unprecedented and we fully support the Prime Minister and the Government's attempts to keep all New Zealanders safe. The hauora (wellbeing) of our students and community are topmost in our minds.

The announcement today was a swift escalation and we know that many will be struggling to make arrangements in the short time frame before complete lockdown. Jacinda's announcement today was very clear and we will unpack in the next few days what learning will look like going forward for our students.  So please be assured that we will stay connected and have information out to you once we have clarity from the Ministry of Education around the requirements of teaching and learning for our students.

Kind regards and stay safe!

Ingrid Stewart

Pakiri School Principal
